About the role

Nemours Childrens Health is currently seeking a Vice President of Facilities and Real Estate to join our team. This position will be based out of our Wilmington, Delaware, or Orlando, Florida.

The Vice President of Facilities and Real Estate is a key leadership role responsible for management of a multi-million square foot real estate portfolio across over 5 states, including owned assets, lease administration, infrastructure planning, and new construction. This role involves overseeing a multiyear, system wide facility investment plan, as well as the maintenance and optimization of existing assets in support of a safe environment for our patients and associates. The purview of this leader includes the corporate facility planning function as well as regional and local facility construction, plant operations teams, physical security, life & environmental safety. 

This position will provide oversight and transparency across the system, developing standards and guidelines in partnership with system and regional leaders. This position will work closely with the system Executive Team, specifically the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer regarding planning, budgets, forecasting, asset management, vendor contracts, energy, redundancy and automation. Similarly, this position will work in collaboration with the Delaware, North Florida, and Central Florida Regional Presidents to support operations and maintenance of their facilities, as well as short-, mid-, and long-term growth strategies.  

  1. Oversee the system facilities and real estate portfolio, ensuring the effective and efficient management of all owned and leased assets.
  2. Manage and implement a comprehensive multiyear facility strategic plan that is fully aligned with the organization's mission and strategy. 
  3. Direct and manage all departments supporting the physical plant, including Facilities Planning, Construction, Facility Operations, physical security, life & environmental safety, and including operational oversight of facilities staff and budgets. This includes the development of goals, policies and procedures; implementation of work activities; and control of the work environment.
  4. Develop and manage both operating expenditure (opex) and capital expenditure (capex) budgets across a broad range of functions.
  5. Provide strong leadership to a highly partner-centric team to foster a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement. 
  6. Develop, deploy, and oversee sustainment of Design and Construction standards for new construction for Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems for healthcare projects. 
  7. Maintain accurate records and documentation, and robust reporting facilities planning and operations to support data driven planning and decision making.
  8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build partnerships and ensure systemness and seamless integration of facilities as part of business continuity, safety, and emergency management. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business, or related field. A Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Minimum 20 years of experience which will include 8 - 10 years of experience in leadership, preferably in healthcare.
