The Prosecution Services Unit (PSU) is responsible for providing legal services in the regulation of all health care boards and councils. PSU takes administrative action against healthcare practitioners for violations of the licensee’s practice act.
Your Specific Responsibilities:
The incumbent in this position prepares agendas for disciplinary cases for one or more health care professions for review by probable cause panels, and for final disposition before Boards and Councils. While the incumbent’s responsibilities will include routine matters, a substantial portion of the incumbent’s time will involve the exercise of independent judgment, time management, and initiative in the completion of a variety tasks and preparation and finalization of work product.
Receives and reviews disciplinary cases for completeness, correct contents, and order of materials. Uses Agenda 2.0, AxiomPro, and/or Adobe, to facilitate building agendas. Prepares and submits public book materials to Board office staff. Works with attorneys and legal staff to meet deadlines established by Program Operations Administrator and/or Board office staff, including, but not limited to, publishing agendas, mailing of materials to Panel members, preparing letters for attorney review, and mailing of letters to appropriate parties.
Participates in all Probable Cause Panel telephone conference calls or live meetings for all professions assigned to the team. Ensures court reporters are scheduled and confirmed for day of Probable Cause Panel meetings for assigned professions.
Serves as a back-up to the section staff supervisor; serves as lead staff and assists team members with any tasks or issues during the absence of the supervisor. Assists with training new legal support staff and with quality control review.
Updates appropriate closure codes for PCP dismissals and updates appropriate post-Board meeting codes in LEIDS, the case management system. Requires understanding of the disciplinary process and use of status and activity codes. For any cases tabled or withdrawn at PCP or Board meetings, updates appropriate status and activity codes and includes reason for being tabled or withdrawn in notes field.
Submits copies of executed Closing Orders and letters to Business Center for upload into AxiomPro, the electronic case file repository. Document category and type are appropriately identified to ensure accurate upload of documents.
Directs telephone inquiries received from the subject, subject’s counsel, witnesses, complainants, expert witnesses, Department employees, and the general public concerning disciplinary cases to the responsible attorney or legal staff. Assists with requests for copies of investigative files from the subject or subject’s counsel, pursuant to Chapter 456, Florida Statutes. Provides information and direction regarding the management of case files processed through the probable cause panel area.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Sound writing and organizational skills; knowledge of correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar usage; and sound reading comprehension. Computer skills and MS Office computer literacy are required.
