About the role

As a FBA Lead, you report hierarchally to the CFO ING in The Netherlands. You are responsible to shape, detail and propagate vision and policy and achieve sustainable results, in order to realise ING's strategy. This also means developing staff within the frameworks specified and taking into account the customer, the environment and the society. You lead the teams who provide financial reports and ad-hoc analysis in the Business Banking domain, CIO/COO and the Support functions (Functional Lines) in Domestic Bank  Netherlands which consist of

  • Monitoring and evaluating the actual and future financial performance;
  • Giving financial advice and facilitating decision making by the business to improve financial performance and/or adapting the strategy;   

You lead the teams who provide meaningful financial information and analysis to:

  • Support the development of the businesses in the Business Banking segment and Functional lines;
  • Evaluate their performance and anticipate their future financial evolution in order to help them defining and/or adapting their strategy;
  • Provide value-added analysis and forecast of the P&L and the business drivers in order to manage the total income and cost base of the Retail segment.

You actively contribute to improving finance processes and reporting and developing finance talents in the team.  Your focus area is the full P&L of Business Banking Domain and Functional Lines.

Your key responsibilities

The FBA Lead is responsible for:

  • Providing valuable (financial) insights regarding your domains of responsibility
  • Providing qualitive and accurate financial advice;
  • You build relationship with board members, identifying priorities and strategic challenges and preparing them for discussion
  • Understanding and controlling all the value drivers generating the economic profit, and anticipating the opportunities and risks which can impact the achievement of the targets;
  • Giving the reliable core figures of the Business Banking, COO/CIO and support functions monthly & annual accounts;
  • You take the lead in the periodic forecast and the dynamic planning process where you will act as a strategic business partner to embed strategic decisions into short and long term projections for the Exco and the management teams of the business.
  • Managing a team of around 20 FTEs  in The Netherlands.

Proven track record and technical skills:

  • Master degree, preferably in the areas of controlling, business administration or business economics as well as an Executive Education.
  • 10-15 years experience in a financial advice position
  • Experience in translating complex data into sound and clear advice
  • Demonstrated knowledge of banking
  • A far reaching decision autonomy to act as true independent business partner and financial controller.
  • Capacity to assess the financial accounts for NL, the environment, the events, the actions and to put them into perspective.
