We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Medical Equipment Planner to support major healthcare construction and activation projects. Working under the guidance of the Supervisory Interior Designer, this role is critical in ensuring that medical equipment planning, procurement, and installation are executed seamlessly and in compliance with federal and VA standards.
The ideal candidate is a proactive professional who can independently manage complex projects, coordinate across multidisciplinary teams, and ensure that healthcare environments are fully equipped to support patient care and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently plan, coordinate, and execute medical equipment planning services across a wide range of healthcare and support spaces, ensuring alignment with project objectives and activation timelines
- Analyze architectural drawings, equipment schedules, and infrastructure plans to identify gaps, overlaps, and design conflicts, and ensure proper integration with electrical, IT, audiovisual, and building systems
- Conduct equipment inventory audits, value cost analyses, and reuse assessments, providing recommendations in accordance with VA guidelines
- Manage the full lifecycle of equipment planning, including specification development, procurement package creation (SOW, technical specifications, IGCE), budgeting, tracking, and financial oversight
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely procurement, delivery, installation, and relocation of equipment
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, activation teams, and clinical stakeholders to ensure compliance with VA standards, facility design criteria, and regulatory requirements (TJC, NFPA, FDA, NRC, AAMI)
- Maintain and manage project documentation, including drawings, specifications, procurement records, and digital resource libraries
- Provide technical expertise, resolve equipment-related issues, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams throughout all project phases
- Support activation and move-in efforts by training end users and coordinating with Biomedical and Logistics teams to ensure proper equipment documentation, tagging, and inventory integration
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience
- Proven experience in medical equipment planning, healthcare design, or facility activation projects
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
- Experience developing Statements of Work (SOW) and equipment specifications for procurement
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams
- Working knowledge of healthcare regulations, safety codes, and compliance standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on federal or VA healthcare projects
- Familiarity with VA Technical Information Library (TIL) standards
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Microsoft Project
- Experience with equipment inventory systems and lifecycle management
- Knowledge of medical equipment integration with IT and low-voltage systems
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously
