Staff Accountant II

The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing month-end journal entries, account reconciliations, cash reporting, performing variance analysis, and assisting with reconciling intercompany accounts. The Staff Accountant will also provide support for audits, as well as contribute to both company-wide improvement initiatives and departmental process improvement initiatives. This Staff Accountant will also identify areas of improvement within their assigned duties and perform other ad hoc requests as needed.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with maintaining the Corporate general ledger: preparing journal entries and account reconciliations, including:
- Corporate Fixed Assets and Depreciation
- Recurring/Standard Month end
- Payroll
- Cash/Bank
- Prepaid Expenses and related amortization
- Ad hoc, misc. adjustments as needed.
- Research and explain variances in accounts versus expected balances
- Assist with the administration of PremiStar’s Bank website access and bank user permissions, P-card/Virtual card programs, Customer payment portals, etc
- Assist with reporting of Cash balances by utilizing the bank website plus working with subsidiary Controllers
- Communicate and record intercompany billing/cross charges, as well as assist with the intercompany out-of-balance reconciliation process.
- Support the Corporate Accounting department and business units with gathering data and documentation related to a variety of topics such as insurance renewals, business licenses, W-9’s from vendors, tax exemption forms, 1099 reporting, etc.
- Identify areas for improvements within assigned accounts/duties.
- Provide support for the business unit accounting personnel, limited to specific areas of responsibility.
- Assist with Corporate-wide finance initiatives as needed.
- Other Ad-hoc tasks and duties as assigned
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
• Basic knowledge of US GAAP
• Experience in G/L and reporting tools preferred
• MS Office Suite, specifically Excel, proficiency preferred
• Attention to detail and ability to work limited oversight.
• Organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective stakeholder partner and contributor to the Corporate controllership team
• Having a continuous improvement mindset approach to assigned duties.
• Effective written and verbal communicator.
