Senior Manager, Vehicle Systems

Do you want to join a stable, but rapidly growing organization? Winnebago Industries, a leading manufacturer of RVs and boats, is seeking a Senior Manager of Vehicle Systems to join our Advanced Technology team in Savage, MN.  The Advanced Technology group focuses on the future technologies and has a dedicated focus on customer-centric learning and the application of advanced technologies for commercialization throughout the various business units of Winnebago Industries. The Senior Manager-vehicle systems role will be responsible for managing and delivering the next generation of RVs, boats, and related technologies. Additionally, the role will also manage center of excellence for electric drive and controls system.  This is a key role and a rare opportunity to make a long-term impact on the organization and create a legacy.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Develop and maintain the long-term research/product roadmaps for motorized RVs and boats
• Manage electric drive and controls Center of Excellence, supporting different projects.
• Initiate and facilitate customer insight work through market research team.
• Create and maintain functional and technical specs for different vehicle related projects.
• Advanced research for alternative propulsion systems.
• Develop and manage vehicle/boat system and sub-system architecture.
• Provide technical leadership to different projects.
• Define and manage Statement of Work for external partners.
• Develop designs, as required.
• Define interactions between different sub-systems.
• Work with validation team to develop and implement QA and validation activities.
• Work with business units for technology transfer for commercialization
• Guide engineering and software development processes
• Define design and architecture standards for the enterprise.
• Develop relationships with technology companies and industry influencers.
• Coach and mentor technical team
• Assist in assessment and acquisitions of relevant intellectual properties.
• Collaborate and work with different business units and enterprise functions.
• Other duties as assigned based on business need.

Critical Competencies

• Extensive expertise in vehicle controls system and algorithms
• Knowledge of data and connectivity
• Ability to manage multiple projects with varying levels of complexity at the same time.
• Knowledge of vehicle design and dynamics
• Ability to create and review functional, technical specifications and vehicle system architectures.
• Proficient with CAD and analytics tools

Education & Experience

• 10-15 years of on-road or off-road vehicle system engineering experience
• Degree in Mechanical, electrical, or relevant engineering discipline.  Preference for master’s or PhD
• Extensive experience with embedded hardware and software
• Extensive experience with electric vehicle power-train designs and supporting systems.
• Experience with developing and managing R&D budgets and manpower.
• This position will require travel to other Winnebago locations and to visit vendors, conferences, trade shows, and other partners.
