Responsibilities

The engineer will lead the conceptualization of new innovative solutions to complex problems by utilizing the development of novel materials, sensors, and/or actuators.   He or she will need to work across organizations to identify new opportunities,  develop innovative concepts,  write proposals, and then execute programs for Draper customers.   Past proposal writing experience is highly desired but not required.   Strong candidates will have experience in one more technical areas such as materials for thermoelectric power systems, hypersonic vehicles,  inertial sensors and guidance systems, maritime and undersea systems, biophysical sensing and/or other problems of national importance.

 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a MS or PhD degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, physics or related field with a 15+ years of experience.    Desired skills include:

 

  • Ability to develop creative solutions to complex systems problems by leveraging novel materials science, micro-sensor, and/or micro-actuator technologies.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with business development and proposal writing experience desired.
  • Ability to model multi-physics devices and systems using modern commercial modeling and simulation tools.
  • Ability to work with small and large teams of multidisciplinary researchers that may span multiple organization and/or locations.

 

This applicant must be able to obtain a Security Clearance which requires US citizenship.
