Definition of Class

The School of Pharmacy (SOP) at the University of Mississippi is seeking a qualified staff member to serve on a team that provides infrastructure support to the School of Pharmacy. This non-supervisory Associate R&D Technical Services Staff person will support facilities, and other equipment used by the SOP on the Oxford Campus and environs. The SOP Infrastructure Team, which consists of facilities and information technology staff, is dedicated to cost-effective and efficient operations that support SOP programs.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Investigates availability and costs of research equipment, parts and service, and offers economic alternatives more suitable for research budgets, in addition to negotiation of maintenance contracts.

  • Creates and maintains notifications to the Facilities Management department for building and equipment repairs.

  • Ensures proper account numbers are assigned to notifications. Follows up to ensure work was completed.

  • Coordinates relocation of facilities, including implementation of operations.

  • Ensures that equipment inventory is current, and assists in audits.

  • Incumbent will utilize communication skills, including interaction with service and construction personnel to convey detailed instructions toward specific goals.

  • Incumbent will utilize organizational skills, including logistics planning.

  • Incumbent will utilize basic mechanical and electronic skills, and experience in facilities design and implementation.

Essential Functions

  1. Evaluates and resolves facilities issues by direct communication with School of Pharmacy faculty and staff and vendor representatives.

  2. Ensures that buildings and equipment are properly maintained.

  3. Ensures that equipment inventory is current, and assists in audits.

  4. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

Education: Graduation from a standard four-year high school or equivalent (GED).
