Job Description:

Role Synopsis

The Division Food Safety Advisor is responsible for supporting and driving all store-level HSSE Food Safety initiatives within a designated geographic division. Collaboration with internal stakeholders—including Facilities, Store Senior Managers, Regional Managers (RM), General Managers (GM), Store Managers (SM), Food Service Managers (FSM), and Guest Services Representatives (GSR)—is essential to improve food safety awareness and comprehension. The DFSA regularly visits stores, participates in weekly division calls, and conducts daily reviews/escalations of crucial food safety findings.

Key Accountabilities

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead and update food safety initiatives across the assigned division.
  • Provide repeated messaging regarding approved, new, or updated food safety changes.
  • Update HSSE Food Safety and Store Operations Senior Manager on regional or division concerns.
  • Escalate imminent health hazards or crisis events (e.g., no water, no power, sewage) and support stores with emergency response procedures.
  • Serve as division food safety subject matter expert, including coaching and training of new managers and teams.

Third-Party Food Safety Assessment (Steritech)

  • Review all store Steritech food safety audit reports.
  • Provide escalated support via calls or emails when KPIs are not met.
  • Timely review and respond to store-submitted Corrective Action Plans (CAPs).
  • Visit stores with RM and Ops Sr Mgr to confirm CAP effectiveness.
  • Participate in quarterly business review meetings.

Health Department Inspection (HDI) Review & Escalation

  • Review all store HDI reports emailed to FoodsafetyUS@bp.com.
  • Update internal HSSE Food Safety HDI Tracker.
  • Initiate escalated support when KPIs are not met.
  • Provide in-person support (when feasible) at follow-up inspections and NTIs.

Pest Support

  • Collaborate with Facilities Services, RM, and pest control vendors when HDIs or Steritech assessments document pest activity.
  • Summarize visits and/or host Teams calls to share facility/sanitation root causes or identified pest harborage.

Recalls and Food Incident Reporting

  • Support and execute Reflexis Task Manager Product Recalls in alignment with HSSE and Category Management.
  • Ensure Incident Notification Forms are submitted by stores or RMs to capture food/beverage product complaints or guest illness reports.

Food Safety Analytics

  • Provide weekly division food safety reporting to Store Ops Sr Manager and HSSE Food Safety Manager.
  • Primary analytics include:
    • Thermal Intelligence (Logile)
    • HDIs
    • Steritech
    • Incident Notifications

Advance Safety and Compliance

  • Partner with HSSE stakeholders to reinforce overall store safety practices.
  • Review quarterly Steritech audit results and HDI reports to highlight trends and risk areas.

Essential Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, environmental health, quality, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required.

Essential Experience and Job Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a retail food and/or foodservice environment.
  • Current Food Safety Manager Certification (e.g., NSF, ServSafe, NRFSP, Always Food Safe) required.
  • Certified Professional – Food Safety, preferred.

  • 50–70% travel locally and overnight within the division.
  • 10–15% travel by air to company-approved meetings, seminars, and training.
