About the role
<p>To further strengthen our technical team within the Fleet Management Group in Hamburg, we are seeking a Senior Superintendent. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the planned maintenance and repair of all fixed components and technical installations on the vessels assigned to you. Your responsibilities will be carried out in full compliance with flag state regulations, classification society rules, port state requirements, and Hapag-Lloyd’s internal standards and policies.</p>
<p>In your role you ensure that your assigned vessels meet all IMO, MARPOL, SOLAS, and Cyber Security requirements and maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and emissions regulations.</p>
<p>You manage classification society surveys and flag state inspections, conduct regular routine inspections and condition assessments of the vessels assigned to you and implement and control maintenance schedules to ensure vessels reliability.</p>
<p>As a member of a highly motivated SHIP TEAM the Superintendent is the responsible Point of Contact (PoC) for daily business including handling routine reporting, non-routine events as well as incidents and minor emergencies and is part of the support team for major emergencies.</p>

<li><span>operating budgets for technical operations</span></li>
<li><span>costs related to maintenance, spare parts, and technical upgrades.</span></li>
<li><span>the implementation of retrofits and will manage technology upgrades for automation and digitalization.</span></li>
<li><span>contingency plans for breakdowns, accidents, or environmental incidents</span></li>
<li><span>operation of machinery and adherence to best practices</span></li>
<li><span>emergency repairs and consulting with port authorities</span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><span>A completed degree in marine engineering or a related field within the maritime sector. Alternatively, a technical degree combined with several years of relevant professional experience in ship management or classification.</span></li>
<li><span>Several years of professional experience on board in a management position and/or classification or similar.</span></li>
<li><span>Ideally, previous experience as a Technical Superintendent.</span></li>
<li><span>Proficiency in ship management software, with a preference for experience with SERTICA.</span></li>
<li><span>A dedicated professional with a business-oriented mindset, a strong commitment to teamwork and transparency, and exceptional communication skills.</span></li>
<li><span>Strong analytical abilities with experience in addressing technical challenges in ship operations.</span></li>
<li><span>A solid sense of cost efficiency and a keen interest in business management.</span></li>
<li><span>Excellent command of both written and spoken English.</span></li>
<li><span>Willingness to travel and work abroad, including assignments in other European countries.</span></li>
<li><span>Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Excel (including Pivot Tables and macro programming). Familiarity with tools like QlikView/Qlik Sense, Tableau, and SAP is a plus.</span></li>
