Position Summary
The Human Resources Business Partner works with designated lines of business and HR teams to collaborate with managers and associates on people-related strategies, issues, and expectations in alignment with Busey Bank's values, culture, and workforce policies. This position is responsible for providing strategic input, insight and advice with respect to associate relations, onboarding, coaching and development, performance and conflict management and associate engagement, as well as executing on other initiatives that relate to regional or corporate initiatives.Duties & Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong partnerships and collaborate with managers to meet strategic initiatives.
- Consult and coach on HR related issues including effective communication, team and individual development, associate engagement, retention, conflict resolution, application of practices/policies/laws.
- Guide and advise leaders and teams in times of transition utilizing best practices of change management.
- Possess a level of business acumen and positively demonstrate how HR practices positively impact a line of business for successful outcomes.
- Partner with business leaders for organizational structure and workforce planning needs to design and predict optimization to meet business objectives.
- Provide business unit onboarding support for new Busey managers and associates, ensuring a seamless transition to the organization.
- Promote a culture of excellence and strength-based culture, collaborating with leaders and associates to build high performing teams through talent roundtable discussions and regular connections with leaders.
- Partner with learning and development team to deliver identified training to improve the overall associate experience, enhance associate skills, and prepare for succession.
- Act as a strategic liaison by analyzing data to identify trends and best practices to prepare recommendations regarding strategic initiatives, employee engagement, retention, and other emerging needs.
- Educate, coach and partner with management on associate relations incidents, conflict management, progressive discipline, development and coaching needs, separation process, compensation and organizational development.
- Support associate engagement initiatives including execution of action plans and ongoing progress checkpoints to aid in increasing engagement and leadership effectiveness.
- Oversee the performance management process, supporting manager documentation, communication, and timelines.
- Examine survey data – including engagement survey, exit interviews, onboarding and transfer surveys, discussing insights with managers and making sound recommendations for improvement.
Education & Experience
Knowledge of:
- Strong oral, listening, and written communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong understanding of HR including labor related laws and policies
Ability to:
- Maintain confidentiality of associate information
- Analyze and solve problems based on precedent
- Make independent decisions and work with little supervision
- Perform duties and make decisions under frequent time pressures
- Travel to various Busey locations as needed
Education and Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
- Requires 5+years of experience as an HR Generalist, HRBP, or similar role in a service-oriented environment; banking experience preferred
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR or PHR certification, requiring continuing education and training in the HR field on an annual basis, or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment
- Gallup Strengths Coach Certification is preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint
Benefits and Compensation
Salary offered is based on factors, including but not limited to, the job duties, required qualifications and relevant experience, and local market trends. The role may be eligible for bonus or incentives based on company and individual performance.
