Examples of duties
This position focuses on providing comprehensive psychiatric care and leading treatment planning for patients at Clarks Summit State Hospital. The role supports patient progress, clinical coordination, and safe hospital operations. As a Staff Psychiatrist, you will perform the following duties:
- Patient Evaluation: Conduct detailed psychiatric examinations, establish diagnoses, and guide treatment decisions
- Treatment Planning: Develop individualized plans, lead team meetings, and coordinate interdisciplinary input
- Emergency Response: Manage psychiatric and medical emergencies, direct interventions, and ensure safe resolution
- Clinical Documentation: Prepare reports, progress notes, treatment reviews, summaries, and competency assessments
- Collaboration Duties: Work with clinical staff, mentor students, support certified registered nurse practitioners, and attend assigned meetings
- Compliance Requirements: Maintain licenses, certifications, documentation standards, and meet all agency mandates

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Evening, weekend, and holiday on-call hours may be required. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
- Overtime and travel: As needed
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Completion of a residency or training program in psychiatry which meets the certification requirements of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry.
Special Requirement:
- You must be in possession of a license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as issued by the State Board of Medical Education and Licensure, or the State Board of Osteopathic Examiners.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
