Job Description

The Bureau of Public Health Clinics (BPHC) mission is to promote a healthy community by providing New Yorkers with the resources needed to make informed and empowered health decisions; identify and treat tuberculosis and provide immunization and sexual health services regardless of ability to pay or immigration status. BPHC provides direct clinic services to people seeking health care; monitors disease trends; provides education and training to service providers and community groups; conducts research; and develops policies and programs to deliver high quality clinical care which best serve New Yorkers. The Senior Data Analyst will compile data reports and work under the supervision of the Director of Data Analytics and Evaluation

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- Build out and maintain frozen datasets for BPHC’s various data sources including medical record data, redcap, and other data systems to be leveraged by bureau analysts
- Create standardized variables and case definitions for key demographics, operations, clinical outcomes that can be readily integrated into routine and ad hoc reports
- Synthesize BPHC data streams into dashboards that summarize key metrics across teams (clinics, outreach, partnerships, workforce, programs, admin)
- Develop Epic expertise to inform decision making for a local database of clinic medical record data and Epic canned reports
- Perform analyses applying a public health and social justice lens which are used to estimate demand for public health services, inform resource allocation and efficiencies, operationalize workflows, and minimize patient barriers to care
- Provide technical support to bureau analysts, agency collaborators, academic partners, and other outside entities for data exchange, evaluation projects, and/or grant-funded work through development and review of specifications, advisement on technical design decisions, performing quality control checks, and by executing dataset preparation and transfer as needed
- Contribute to the development of bureau goals and quality improvement metrics
- Lead study design and data analysis for research and evaluation projects which are used to inform high-level decision making and contribute to the broader field of public health
- Prepare public reports, presentations, and manuscripts for scientific journals which synthesize and disseminate findings from research, evaluation, and other analytic projects

Preferred Skills:
-Expertise with R, SAS, and SQL programming
-Experience with building dashboards to effectively communicate public health data
-Experience with electronic medical record or large health care datasets
-Strong attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills
-Ability to maintain multiple and diverse assignments simultaneously and function effectively both independently and collaboratively
