Job Description

The Manager, HR and Employee Relations will thoroughly and expeditiously investigate team member concerns in a fair, unbiased, and consistent manner. This role supports the television productions based in the eastern US and Canada.

The ideal candidate will need to have significant experience operating in a fast paced, employee facing environment and possess a strong generalist skill set working in Union and Non-Union organizations.

This position is based in New York, NY and will report to the Director, Human Resources and Employee Relations, as well as work closely with the entire HR team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide daily HR partnership to production-based employees including heavy employee relations, performance management, leave of absence administration, ad hoc reporting and compliance with HR policies and procedures for represented and non-represented staff.
  • Responsible for conducting in-depth investigations on policy violations and employee relations matters, including complaints of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other work-related issues
  • Evaluate information gathered during interviews to determine facts, formulate necessary reports, and assist with the preparation of disciplinary documentation
  • Maintain detailed and accurate accounts of investigations with timely memorialization of notes and importing supporting documents into a centralized system
  • Create an environment of positive employee relations by respecting confidentiality, establishing trust and credibility, using sound judgment, being seen by employees as approachable and fair, and balancing business needs with employee needs
  • Independently manage assigned casework, driving prompt closure of open cases and concerns
  • Coach, counsel, and educate employees at all levels on HR policies, processes, programs, and strategies
  • Confer with managers on complex or sensitive employee relations issues, ensuring fair and consistent enforcement of policies and practices 
  • Monitor the organization’s ADA and Religious Accommodation requests and handle submissions appropriately
  • Analyze aggregate casework data to identify issue trends and opportunities for proactive issue mitigation
  • Partner with the Diversity and Inclusion Council to develop and maintain an environment that embraces our diverse culture throughout the organization
     

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 4 years relevant HR experience including employee relations, performance management, organizational learning & development, and compliance
  • Must be willing to work in New York, NY
  • Must have work authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be willing to travel for business as necessary

Additional Requirements:

  • This position is currently designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. This designation is subject to change.
