Position Overview

Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, who provides scientific direction for correlative research studies in oncology; participates in the development of original research proposals as principal investigator; submits and administers grants; obtains portion of salary and research support derived from grant funding; tracks grant submissions to national and local agencies to ensure proper review procedures and prepares resubmissions, as necessary; manages small research lab; supervises research personnel; plans/performs funded research; prepares and submits manuscripts for publication; tracks manuscripts through all stages of review process to ensure timely publications; revises manuscripts following review, proofreads galleys for accuracy for publications, and ensures return to editorial staff or journal for timely publication, composes and presents research at conferences; directs research personnel.

Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:

PhD or MD/PhD required; Considerable post-doctoral experience in basic research required; considerable experience in oncology required; proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in scientific, peer-reviewed journals preferred; understanding of key components of grant writing and obtaining funding in support of research required; experience with administration of funded research required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
