The Position

The Associate Director, Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) is an individual contributor and acts under consultative direction of the Senior Director to develop product or program specific HEOR strategy, plan and budget and to manage HEOR studies, programs, budget, contracts and studies. The incumbent maintains strong internal networks and collaborates with colleagues in all key functions both locally and globally. She/he may lead global or local cross functional teams.

 

Relationships

Field-based relationships include clinical and academic KOL relationships, consultants & vendors, and professional associations / conferences. The Associate Director, HEOR reports to a Senior Director, HEOR and works closely with HQ functions, CMR, Market Access, Public Affairs and Managed Markets. The incumbent works independently or under the consultative direction with Global HEOR and Global Marketing colleagues in corporate headquarters.

 

Essential Functions

  • Accountable for annual plan budget and contract/budget management
  • Employs advanced technical expertise to design and perform health economic and outcome research projects/studies focusing on value, positioning and unmet needs of pipeline and/or newly launched Novo Nordisk product/s
  • Provides US strategic insights and inputs to shape Global HEOR strategies and development. Responsible for all aspects of effective project management, including RFP development, selection of research partners, contract execution, budget planning, protocol design, analytic plan development, oversight of data collection/acquisition, data analysis, and development of research findings into publications in alignment with Medical Affairs and commercial strategies
  • Through extensive interaction with MM Strategy, Medical Affairs and relevant Brand Marketing teams, assists in building comprehensive value arguments to improve market access and improving patient outcomes. Under consultative direction of the group leader, develops HEOR strategy and evidence to support one or more product/s or therapeutic area/s

 

Physical Requirements

up to 20% overnight travel required.

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree required, PhD/MD/PharmD degree in appropriate healthcare-related field (heath economics, epidemiology, outcomes research, public health, business/health services research, biostatistics, medicine, biomedical sciences) preferred
  • Working knowledge and experience in conducting health economics, health services research studies, real world research and the evaluation of health care interventions            
  • 5+ years of experience in health economics, outcomes research, pricing, reimbursement, medical affairs, and/or portfolio analysis, preferably with at least 2 years in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Proficiency in methodological approaches and tools in health services research; strong knowledge of health care “big data” and applications
  • Knowledge of US healthcare system including managed care organizations, integrated health systems, PBMs, Medicare and Medicaid
