Job Description
GTRI's Advanced Warfighting Technologies Division (AWTD) in the Advanced Concepts Laboratory (ACL) seeks qualified candidates for an experienced student assistant.
Qualified candidates will have the technical skills to support the development, fabrication, and assessment of unmanned systems, sensors, and other prototype systems. The Advanced Warfighting Technologies Division engages in research related to counter-proliferation technologies, special operations enablers, and advanced ground maneuver concepts. AWTD provides technology development and tactical analysis for countering weapons of mass destruction, threat assessment and wargaming of ground maneuver and asymmetric warfare, and rapid technology integration and prototyping for rapid reaction warfighting capabilities for the U.S. Government and other sponsors.
The Advanced Concepts Laboratory develops tailored solutions for a broad range of national security challenges through disciplined application of physics- and effects-based modeling to realizable systems, augmented with prototype development and testing. ACL's research thrusts extend across domains, and include bio-, chemical, RF, and optical-sensor physics; materials science and engineering; electromagnetic theory, computation, structures, and measurements; electronic warfare techniques and applications; operational scenario modeling and simulation; traditional and asymmetric threat analysis; and ground maneuver warfare.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Student Assistant
- Pursuing a Master’s degree or PhD at Georgia Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university during working semester
- 2.0 or higher GPA
- Commit to up to 40 hours of work per week
- Experience designing and developing prototypes
- Experience with mechanical design using Solidworks and other tools
- Proficiency related to the development and publication of technical reports
- Strong technical, analytical, technical writing, and briefing skills
- Experience with modeling and simulation tools
- Knowledge and experience in system design and development of unmanned systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Candidate must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced team environment
- Analyze data using either Matlab or Python programming languages in order to perform data analysis.
- Enthusiastic about learning about new technologies and assessing ways for them to be used in operational environments for the warfighter assessing ways for them to be used in operational environments for the warfighter
- Candidates should have experience working with federal government (either as military, civilian, or contractor).
- Experience in the development of unmanned systems
- Previous or active DoD clearance
- Ability to rapidly develop scripts and process data
- Software development on embedded systems
