Position Summary:

The Baker 2 team member is an intermediate role on the Bake team, building on the skills and responsibilities of a Baker 1 while helping produce all inclusions and variegates used in our ice cream. This position prepares high-quality inclusions, variegates, and MOMs by following established recipes and the daily production schedule, with a strong focus on accuracy, consistency, and food safety. Baker 2 team members are expected to take ownership of their assigned daily project—organizing ingredients, planning the sequence of tasks, and ensuring the work is completed smoothly, efficiently, and to Salt & Straw’s quality standards.

Essential Functions:


Follow recipe specifications provided by the R&D team and execute batches according to the daily production schedule
Take ownership of the assigned daily project, including organizing ingredients, executing the workflow, and ensuring the project runs smoothly from start to finish
Accurately measure, portion, and weigh ingredients
Operate baking equipment and follow recipe instructions to ensure proper timing, baking, and product quality
Adhere to GMPs and all food safety, sanitation, and allergen-handling procedures while working with ingredients and equipment
Identify and troubleshoot basic production issues, escalating to a Baker 3 or Supervisor when needed
Complete daily ingredient tracking sheets, work orders, and required production documentation accurately
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace throughout the shift and assist with completing the End of Day Checklist
Demonstrate basic tasks or techniques to junior team members when additional guidance is needed
Accurately enter production completion and quantities into NetSuite, verifying amounts and work order numbers to support inventory and reporting accuracy

QualificationsJoining Our Team

Qualifications:



At least 1 year working in commercial food preparation


Minimum 6 months baking experience


High school diploma or equivalent preferred



 

Knowledge and Critical Skills: 



Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise recipes and instructions


Good counting and math skills for accurate measuring, scaling, and portioning


Able to work efficiently and stay organized in a fast-paced production environment


Clear communication skills and dependable teamwork across Bake, Spin, and Production teams


Comfortable working in a manufacturing facility and coordinating tasks across teams


Ability to uphold high standards of food safety, sanitation, product quality, and efficiency


Comfortable operating a variety of commercial kitchen and baking equipment


Ability to follow detailed recipe specifications from R&D and adjust processes as directed


Reliable, consistent, and able to follow established SOPs and production procedures


Fluency in English
