About the role
Overview
The maintenance technician interacts with production workers, production management, quality management, engineering and plant management to keep all equipment in the building in good working condition. This person is responsible for building maintenance as well as production equipment.
Responsibilities
The maintenance technician role includes, but is not limited to the following essential duties, other duties may be assigned as dictated by business need:

- Minimize machine downtime by responding to equipment breakdowns quickly and getting equipment back online, or swapping a spare machine as quickly as possible.
- Proactively maintain all equipment in good running condition by means of an effective preventive maintenance program.
- Maintain records using the Daily Maintenance log and Preventive Maintenance data bases.
- Keep spare parts area clean and organized. Order spare parts and maintain records using parts order forms.
- Conduct and document emergency lighting, fire extinguisher and emergency door inspections.
- Leave all worksites clean and organized upon completion of work.
- Recommend process or equipment improvements, utilizing quality and engineering resources to gain appropriate approvals.
- Communicate with suppliers and contractors where assigned.
- Communicate internally using E-Mail and attachments in WORD and EXCEL.
- Manage priorities appropriately.
Qualifications
- Education/Experience: Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
- Language Ability: Ability to read, comprehend and interpret documents such as contracts, purchase orders, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings etc. Ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with suppliers. Ability to summarize technical information in layman’s terms. Fluency in the English Language is required.
- Mathematical Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Computer Skills: Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook for correspondence, spreadsheets and database. Ability to e-mail attachments and manage files from the computer.
