About the role

Job Summary
Responsible for overseeing a $150M portfolio of minerals that support the industrial economy. Manages, cultivates, and advances CSX's interests in these commodities, including setting prices and liaising with both internal teams and external parties. Monitors performance indicators, interprets data, and reports on outcomes. Pinpoints and champions necessary capital investments and service improvements to best meet market demands and encourage the shift of transportation modes to rail.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities

  • Design, market and support sales of CSX Transportation services to customers in responsible product areas
  • Develop yield management strategies for key product areas
  • Partner with Sales team to develop value proposition(s) for the products under responsibilities
  • Develop industry knowledge and expertise for product areas of responsibility through market research and monitoring competitor activity and create strategic marketing plans accordingly
  • Evaluate market evolution and key customer/competitive initiatives
  • Support pricing and contracting issues, along with managing communication deliverables (e.g. collateral, presentation materials, customer updates)
  • Lead project and process initiatives related to key products
  • Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
  • 3 or more years of experience in product management, marketing, pricing, project management, finance, procurement, and/or business to business (B2B) sales

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate Degree
  • 5 or more years of experience in product management, B2B marketing, pricing, project management and/or B2B sales

Knowledge and Skills

  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel and possess a working knowledge of at least one business intelligence tool (such as Power BI, Tableau, etc.) as it relates to business usage.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize large, complex data sets and provide insights to advance business objectives
  • Project management skills, strong business acumen and leadership skills, with sound time management and attention-to-detail, and ability to be a self-starter and work independently
  • Process improvement skills, and project management skills for a cross-functional context
  • Ability to think analytically
  • Ability to develop written and presentation material for broad audiences (a writing sample will be required as part of the interview process), and ability to effectively influence stakeholders without direct authority
  • Ability to compile and present market and financial data
  • Ability to establish rapport and relationships with individuals at multiple levels internally and externally
