Base Salary Range: $120,000 -$140,000 - plus benefits

FTE: Full-Time -Exempt

General Summary: The Director of Patient Services and Access oversees all aspects of patient experience, including registration, access, and billing processes, ensuring seamless and efficient healthcare access for patients. The Director will develop and implement strategic initiatives, maintain compliance with federal and state regulations, and promote a culture of continuous improvement in patient care. Additionally, the Director will be responsible for overseeing the Managed Care Department, Community Outreach Department and Enhanced Care Management Department and ensuring their professional development.  The ideal candidate will have to perform some of the following essential and clinical duties

  • Oversees the managed care plan, operations, credentialing of health plans, obligations & responsibilities inter-departmentally throughout the SCFHC System. Directs department operations, activities, and resources to meet budget and goals. Communicates and resolves issues. 
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of strategies to improve managed care performance in terms of utilization, patient access, cost, compliance with contractual quality measures, etc. Align improvement with quality and financial goals. 
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive membership growth, retention, and reduce avoidable month-to-month lapses in health coverage. In partnership with SCFHC leadership, lead the management and optimization of various workflows and technological platforms, including patient enrollment & eligibility, NextGen, the Patient Portal (patient access to their health information) Develop reporting mechanisms and key performance indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of the department(s) and ensure continuous improvement
  • Interface with executive leadership to provide regular updates, reports, and recommendations related to managed care operations. 
  • Identify opportunities to grow as a clinic of choice through relationship building and addressing feedback. Partner with external vendors to optimize patient visits and recruit new patients
  • Lead the identification, coordination, and analysis of all financial, access and utilization data that results in clear business performance reporting and monitoring by payer and by lines of business.
  • Establishes, implements and evaluates ongoing performance improvement programs, utilizing an interdisciplinary approach; Escalates to senior leadership any unfavorable trends or disciplinary actions; Provides managerial follow-up related to performance, up to and including disciplinary actions
  • Creativity, analytic ability and conceptual skills and vision to refine and improve existing operations and to conceive, design and implement state-of-the-art technical and human admission, access, and registration functions.
  • Inspire, train, and lead staff in providing patients with an exceptional patient experience, focusing on patient engagement, retention, and growth. 
  • Implement and oversee the department, ensuring proper member assignments to Enrollment and Eligibility Specialists

Qualifications and Certifications:

  • BA Degree in health education or related field is required.
  • Certification within the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and/or the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) preferred.
  • General knowledge of health care systems is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of wellness, health care, and patient education concepts required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of LA County Health system preferred.

Experience:

  • Must have a minimum of 3 – 5 years prior experience in developing and managing programs.
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of previous supervisory experience required.
  • Experience providing health education and counseling services to community members/patients using formal and info
