The Maintenance Superintendent manages repair and maintenance of manufacturing facilities and equipment including; Installing, repairing, and maintaining mechanical and electronic equipment, tools, and instruments Installing, repairing, and maintaining manufacturing facilities infrastructure. Managing Maintenance cost and spend, by planning and prioritizing work orders and scheduling overall repair and maintenance activities to minimize production downtime and disruptions.

Provides overall maintenance leadership responsibility, technical direction, administrative management, and leadership to the maintenance supervisors, and skilled trades employees. Actively leads and participates in the plant safety, housekeeping, and continuous improvement efforts, employee engagement, hourly team development, process productivity, efficiency and reliability, department financial performance to include cost management and annual budgeting, and capital planning for their area.  These Responsibilities will also include the direction of technical resources and process experts who support the business unit.

 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITIES: include but are not limited to the following

  • Coordinate with Maintenance Supervisors and Planner Schedulers to ensure all PM’s are scheduled and completed;
  • Initiate work orders and actions to correct unsafe acts and conditions; attend maintenance planning and coordination meetings to help prioritize scheduled work and efficiently handle “break-in” work as necessary.
  • Provide technical assistance and creative thinking during planning and coordination of meetings to deliver the most cost-effective solutions to mechanical and EI issues;
  • Prioritize work to be performed by EI technicians and consult with Planner or Reliability Engineer on work to be contracted;
  • Work with Reliability group to ensure preventive maintenance programs or permanent electrical equipment modifications are put in place to address the “root causes” of downtime and quality issues.
  • Ensure safety best practices and policies are followed;
  • Ensure that plans, schedules, and materials are available to allow for work to be handled effectively and efficiently (daily and outages);(*GPI Maintenance Process)
  • Execute the development and completion of “outage” strategy and plan;
  • Collaborate with production operators to understand operational issues as well as process and equipment opportunities;(*MOPs-Maintenance & Operations Meetings)
  • Accountable for overall shift performance in accordance to established key performance indicator (KPI’s) to include safety, environmental compliance, housekeeping, quality and efficiency.  Takes necessary action to ensure goals are achieved in a team environment by leading or promoting problem solving and development of countermeasures that will prevent future reoccurrence.

  • Demonstrate situational leadership in the implementation of problem-solving strategies and execution of key performance objectives in area of responsibility.
  • Establish and provide the operational expertise component of leading and managing our cultural change process, the strategic and forward-thinking capabilities in both the operational and human capital areas of the operation.
