Boeing Global Services (BGS) – Structures Stress Team is seeking a broad range of experience levels including Experienced, Lead and Senior Level Structural Analysis Engineers with adept knowledge of stress analysis methods, engineering principles, certification, and collaboration skills.  The primary position location is the Long Beach, CA Design Center.

This requisition is hiring stress analysis for airplane production & airplane post-production modifications.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performing detailed structural analysis to determine structural integrity (margins of safety), using classical techniques and Boeing tools. This analysis can support production, responses to customer inquiries, service bulletin development, failure investigation, regulatory agency coordination and show compliance to regulatory requirements

  • Providing guidance on structural design and configuration development

  • Create trade studies to optimize the structure and meet program requirements

  • Work with the team to integrate component-level structural models and perform integrated analysis, using finite element methods, to develop internal loads and stresses to verify structural integrity with minimal instruction

  • Document structural analyses and data required to show compliance with Boeing, customer, and regulatory requirements

  • Participate in the resolution of technical, operational, and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer (internal and external)

  • The ability to support regular and emergent domestic or international travel to support our customers

  • May be asked to support other programs as needed

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)

  • 3+ years of experience with Stress Analysis/Structural Analysis

  • 3+ years of experience with classical hand analysis and FEA software experience

  • 1+ years of experience with Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Analysis

  • Willing & able to travel up to 10% of the time domestically and internationally

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of higher education and/or related work experience (Higher education includes college, university, technical school, licensing/certification programs, etc.)

  • 10+ years of higher education and/or related work experience (Higher education includes college, university, technical school, licensing/certification programs, etc.)

  • Experience with Boeing tools, processes, and procedures

  • 2+ years leading and mentoring structural analyst team members while engaging with cross-functional stakeholders

  • 2+ years engaged in 787 primary structural analysis
