About this role
The Carrier Control Box Group designs, develops, and manufactures control and control panel solutions for the HVAC, refrigeration, and other OEM related markets globally. Carrier is seeking a Mechanical Engineer based in Fort Wayne, IN. The available opportunity is a critical and comprehensive role within the Control Box Engineering group. Carrier is a global leader, and we are looking for a self-directed contributor and team player who will help us achieve and exceed product and business growth targets while simultaneously driving improved quality and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will work as a member of an engineering design team that develops electrical control panels and enclosures from concept through production including analysis of component layouts to ensure a robust and cost competitive panel design.
Key Responsibilities
Interaction with team members both internal and external to create new control box designs and features according to their specifications.
Management of your own workflow for assigned projects.
Provide mechanical design, drafting, and analysis expertise in the areas of sheet metal, fasteners, and enclosures for electrical panels for use in the HVAC and adjacent industries.
Creation and design of enclosures that meet varying levels of ingress protection.
Layout of electrical and electro-mechanical devices within enclosures followed by layout and design of wiring harnesses to interconnect inside and outside the enclosure.
Creation of manufacturing drawing/documentation packages in accordance with industrial drawing practices and standards.
Utilization of PTC Creo to create models, assemblies, and perform mechanical analysis.
Assembly and evaluation of physical mock-ups of control boxes and panels.
Manage electronic Engineering Change Notice (ECN) generation and implementation through the Windchill product data management system.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
1+ years of experience using PTC Creo or similar CAD modeling packages.
1+ years of experience with Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
BS/BA degree in ME/MET with 1+ years of experience.
Familiarity with electromechanical devices (motors, breakers, relays, etc) and electromechanical enclosures and control panel development is highly desirable.
Familiarity with Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning systems is highly desirable.
Familiarity with national and international standards is also highly desirable.
Examples include NEMA, IP, ANSI, UL1995, UL 60335-2-40, UL508A, and NFPA 70.
Project management skills are considered very beneficial.
Pay Range
The annual salary for this position is between $64,500.00 - $129,500.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.Other Compensation
