About the Team:
As the manager of Software Engineering, you will lead the team responsible for the Software Asset Management (SAM) product area within IT Asset Management (ITAM), enabling organizations to manage software licenses effectively, optimize costs, and maintain compliance. This leadership role involves setting technical direction, driving execution of key initiatives such as license compliance and optimization, telemetry improvements, and innovative features like machine learning for contract analysis and AI-driven customer experiences. You will oversee engineering operations, ensure product quality and scalability, and foster collaboration across global teams, including close partnership with the IDC team to deliver 24x7 customer support. The position requires strong people leadership to mentor and grow engineering talent, strategic planning to align with business objectives, and cross-functional engagement to improve product adoption and deliver customer success.

- Work with product management, design, support, quality, and other dev teams to create high-quality solutions.
- Manage daily activities of the end to end development team, ensuring engineering excellence, code quality, and delivery velocity.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation initiatives including designing testing strategies, driving test automation to enhance reliability, performance, and scalability of products and services.
- Solve difficult and sometimes ambiguous problems by fostering collaboration and applying structured decision-making.
- Manage departmental resources, staffing, mentoring, and enhance and maintain a best-of-class engineering and quality team.
- Partner with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to align on priorities, communicate issues, and utilize best practices.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you have:
- Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This includes using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI’s impact on engineering practices.
- Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 8 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience as a technical lead for technical teams
- Strong background in modern software engineering practices and technologies relevant to large-scale enterprise products.
- Advanced coding skills with fluency in one or more relevant programming languages (Java, C++, Ruby, Shell, JavaScript, or similar).
- Experience with open source tools, automation frameworks, and agile development environments.
- Proven ability to design and implement effective testing strategies, including automation and performance testing.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to mentor and grow high-performing teams.
- Experience in managing cross-functional teams with combined engineering and quality responsibilities.

For positions in this location, we offer a base pay of $163,600 - $286,300, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
