You will work with other Boeing engineers in a mentoring and collaborative mode in order to address research and development challenges. You are expected to have the ability to analyze and develop solutions to complex problems, have good team collaboration and excellent communication skills.
Over the course of the 10-12 week summer program you will have the opportunity to:

We are looking for a PhD candidate in Human Factors, Systems Engineering, Psychology, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering or related fields with the ability to apply principles of human capabilities and constraints (e.g. physiology, cognition, perception, and anthropometry) and knowledge of the users and their environments to assist in the development, test and evaluation of safe and effective user interfaces.
The successful candidate will utilize human engineering tools and methods (e.g. task and workload analysis, digital human modeling, simulation and prototyping, usability evaluation, statistical and human error analysis) to assist in the development, test and evaluation of safe and effective user interfaces and products. This role will also apply knowledge of the human engineering design process, its elements, and its relationship to the product lifecycle to effectively analyze product design.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications for all positions (Required Skill/Experience):
- Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university pursuing a Doctorate degree in Human Factors, Systems Engineering, Psychology, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering or a related field of study
- The ability to work a minimum of 10 weeks (12 weeks preferred) during the summer of 2024
- Completed first year of PhD studies by July 2024
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Cognitive Workload Analysis, Task Analysis Development, Situational Awareness Modeling
- Experience collecting and analyzing physiological/biometric data
- Data Analysis Experience
- Programing Skills (Python, Pearl, C++, etc…) desired but not required
