The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek an Optometrist to join the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, working closely with the Neuro-Ophthalmology Division. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.
Position Overview
The Havener Eye Institute, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at The Ohio State University, is a growing practice. We are currently seeking applicants for a full-time clinical Optometrist position in close collaboration with the Division of Neuro-Ophthalmology. The successful candidate will primarily provide a comprehensive baseline eye exam with visual function evaluations, including OCT/ONH, automated perimetry, and fundus photography. Additionally, the candidate will provide follow-up care for patients with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH), chronic optic neuropathy (e.g., NAION), and Double vision, including those with known diagnoses, focusing on symptom management and prism evaluation.
Department/Division Overview

The Havener Eye Institute has its primary location in the Eye and Ear Institute building near campus. We have newly constructed state-of-the art facilities that include on-site outpatient surgical centers. We strive to provide our patients with the highest quality of care with the latest surgical equipment and instrumentation.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Division Director and/or Department Chair is responsible for determining the work assignments. Each faculty member is expected to perform the full range of responsibilities in the areas of teaching, research/scholarship, and service. Clinical services are a component of your faculty responsibility, with or without the presence of a trainee.
It is expected that the academic mission of the Department would be supported. In consultation with the Department Chair, there will be an opportunity to pursue research, quality improvement initiatives, curriculum development, and education initiatives, or other activities consistent with the faculty assignment. Faculty members are expected to teach, which may include clinical or didactic teaching and may involve medical students, residents, fellows, undergraduate and graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows.
Service commitments will include service at the OSUWMC facilities and other clinical sites as assigned. Active participation in divisional, departmental, and college committee functions is expected. Participation in local, regional, or national professional organizations is also expected.
Requirements
- Graduate of a United States accredited School of Optometry
- Passed all parts of the NBEO exam.
- Possess and maintain a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice optometry in the State of Ohio.
