Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking two Project Coordinators to support a federally funded TRIO program within the First-Generation Student Center. These positions provide academic advising, college readiness guidance, and program coordination for high school participants, with the goal of preparing students for success in postsecondary education. Project Coordinators deliver direct services including academic advising, course planning, college preparation workshops, and mentoring to support participants in completing a rigorous secondary school curriculum. The role also includes student recruitment, program implementation, progress monitoring, and maintaining accurate documentation to ensure compliance with U.S. Department of Education TRIO program requirements.
Each Coordinator is responsible for managing assigned projects, ensuring program success, and delivering high-quality services to participants. Coordinators implement the federally funded project as outlined in the approved grant proposal and collaborate closely with the Assistant Director of Upward Bound/Upward Bound Math and Science (UB/UBMS), partner schools, families, and university departments to support student achievement and college access.
These positions will serve distinct program sites:
Washoe Grant: Supporting students at Hug High School and North Valleys High School, with regular travel to these locations during the academic year.
Northwest Grant: Supporting students at Fernley High School and Silver Stage High School, with regular travel to these locations during the academic year.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree two (2) years of related work experience OR
Master’s Degree one (1) year of related work experience
Related Experience: Advising and counseling service to low-income and first-generation college-bound high school students and education curriculum development or related experience.
Licensures
Driver’s license
Must pass required background check to work with minors
Schedule and Travel Requirements
Requires a flexible work schedule, including significant evening and weekend commitments throughout the academic year.
Requires extensive summer availability, including a residential component during the summer.
Requires overnight and multi-day travel with students for college tours, training, and program-related activities.
Occasional regional or national travel for professional development, conferences, and grant-related meetings may be required

Administrative Faculty – B
