About the role

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Provide general project management support which includes: developing and maintaining work breakdown structures, developing and maintaining project schedules, managing the requirements definition process, interfacing with technology subject matter experts, managing projects to their on-time completion, within budget and meeting quality standards.
  • Conduct status meetings and perform risk assessments, tracking action items and provide reporting needed by the Program Management Office.
  • Implement risk mitigation strategies to ensure high quality and on-time delivery of projects.
  • Work with Business Stakeholders to ensure that customer requirements are clearly defined, that regular customer communications takes place and that the customer is engaged in the project. 
  • Work with Quality Management to verify that sufficient test plans have been generated.
  • Continually work with Business Stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Manage all aspect of vendor selection, relationships, schedules, and team coordination efforts. 

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of enterprise infrastructure, hardware or networking Project Management experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Windows Server OS, SQL Server, XIV Storage Area Network, Cisco, F5, web security technologies, LAN/WAN concepts, and how these solutions impact and work with one another.
  • Demonstrated leader of people, able to earn confidence of others quickly, exhibiting credibility through his/her actions and interactions with others, is committed to team building and must be a good coach and mentor to staff.
  • Excellent project management skills, including meeting facilitation, minute taking and distribution, follow up, problem resolution, accountability for work product and final outcomes.
  • Ability to handle non-routine, multi-faceted technical problems is required.
  • Must be a taskmaster capable of ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget and meeting quality requirements.
  • The successful candidate must possess excellent customer service skills and must be results driven. Also, the successful candidate must inspire motivation and committed to achieving results on behalf of commitments to customers.
  • Experience in the Transportation industry is a plus.
  • Project Management PMP credentials, ITIL Framework (or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology

·         Network Hardware Upgrade/Replacement

o   As networking equipment reaches end of life and is no longer supported, a project will be initiated to replace the aging devices. This could be in a data center environment or could be local to terminals/buildings. The PM will need to coordinate between the technical teams performing the work as well as the business areas impacted during the planed outages to accomplish the work.

·         IT Security Projects

o   As the business faces increasing IT security threats, R+L works to implement best practices to protect the business from these types of attacks. A typical project in this area could be deploying new firewalls to the networking environment or deploying new security software to our end user devices across the various business units. 

·         COTS and Third Party Software

o   The R+L business units rely on a variety of software from Third Parties to accomplish daily business activities. As new software is selected and implemented or existing software needs upgraded, an Infrastructure PM will coordinate these activities between the COTS admin team and the impacted business stakeholders. In the case of seeking a new third party solution, activities would include coordinating demo’s with the various potential vendors and assisting the business stakeholders in selecting a provider to partner with.
