Cleanroom Team Lead - 3rd Shift

About the role

The Opportunity:

Under limited supervision, performs a variety of functions including fabrication, assembly or testing in the production of electrical, mechanical, or other components/devices manufactured or assembled in a clean-room environment. Operates appropriate equipment in performing the functions. Assists in setting up work stations and follows written or verbal process specifications in completing all assignments. Mentors less-experienced peers and assist supervisor, but does not formally supervise others.

Avantor is looking for a motivated Lead Cleanroom Assembly Technician to join our Biopharma team, supporting production of single use assembly products for our customers.   

This role will be a full-time, 3rd Shift (Friday – Sunday, 6:00am – 6:30pm) position based out of our Morrisville, NC facility.  You will have the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and collaborative team.  If you have experience in fast-paced, production environments and are passionate about guiding a team   – let’s talk!    

What we’re looking for  

  • Education: High School diploma or GED required; Associates degree in Engineering or Science preferred.

  • Experience: 4+ years of experience in a production cleanroom environment and/or demonstrated proficiency in cleanroom assembly as evidence through annual reviews

  • Collaboration Tool: MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)

  • Demonstrates awareness of emotional intelligence of self and others to be capable directing others

  • Experience using concepts of Lean manufacturing

  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings

  • Comfortable reading and interpreting product schematics

  • Strong communication and leadership skills

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to lead a team and act as a resource for more junior staff

  • Perform duties with the highest regard for safety and quality

  • Ability to be trained on and adhere to all cleanroom protocols

  • Ability to understand and follow site protocols, policies, and procedures

  • Must be flexible, forward- thinking, motivated, and can work independently as needed

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs minimum

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

  • Problem-solving skills

How you will thrive and create an impact  

  • Act as a contact point between Management and Technicians.

  • Wear and enforce compliance of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE’s) and report all near miss and first aid events.

  • Coordinate the production effort with the cleanroom technicians.

  • Trains cleanroom technicians on new production protocols.

  • Function as the subject matter expert on assembly related issues or questions.

  • Ability to understand product offerings and advise on recommended assembly process.

  • Works safely within the parameters of and complies with company policies; helps ensure Technicians are following all work procedures.

  • Responsible for building various Single-Use assemblies per work instructions and prints, cleaning, and packaging.

  • Responsible for proper cleanroom preparation activities.

  • Operate and maintain production equipment as per SOPs.

  • Participate in continuous improvement processes.

  • Comply with ISO and cGMP regulations.

  • Identify process deviation and take immediate action to mitigate event.

  • Daily organization (6S) and cleanliness of work area to comply with regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in inventory cycle count programs and accurate record results.

  • Participate and work within ISO 9001-2015 quality standards guidelines in all manufacturing areas in accordance with company quality goals.

  • Maintain company product quality standards in accordance with company quality goals.
