The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is proposing an expansion of programs to include a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy program. The program is a professional bachelor's degree that will seek accreditation from CoARC (Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care).

This position is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track, faculty appointment. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s level of experience and qualifications at the time of hiring. This founding director will oversee student policies, manage budget, and ensure accreditation compliance. The PD will oversee all aspects of the program, both administrative and educational. Administrative aspects include fiscal planning, continuous review and analysis of all program activities, planning and development, and the overall effectiveness of the program. Educational responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching and continuous curriculum formation and review in compliance with CoARC standards. This position leads the program, interfaces with administration and clinical partners, and stays current with respiratory care practices to prepare graduates for professional credentialing and industry demands.

Two of Butler’s key strategic priorities are “to create an intentionally diverse, inclusive, and equitable campus community,” and to “build a culture of empowerment, engagement and accountability.” We seek candidates whose research, teaching, and/or life experiences have prepared them to contribute to engagement with and inclusion of culturally diverse students, faculty, and staff.

  • Have the ability to complete the CoARC Key Personnel Training Program
    • Certificate of completion required within 24 months of being hired
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with healthcare partners

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Familiarity with accreditation (CoARC) and state regulations/scope of practice
  • Proficiency with various teaching modalities, including classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction
