Job Title:  Senior Automation Engineering Intern              

Location:     Conyers, GA              

 

What we’re looking for: 

 

As a growing organization, we are seeking a highly motivated PhD‑level Engineering Intern to support and advance our SolidWorks Electrical automation initiatives. This role will focus on developing algorithms that will lead to developing tools, workflows, and automated processes to generate wiring diagrams, schematics, 3D electrical models, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) within SolidWorks Electrical and SolidWorks 3D. 

 

The intern will work with our Electrical Engineering and Product Development teams to develop a methodology, which will lead to automate design outputs, enhance model‑based design practices, and build validation tools that compare BOMs and 3D models against automated assemblies for accuracy and completeness. Responsibilities include creating intelligent algorithms, develop automation scripts, refining templates and libraries, improving data structures, and developing checking/validation utilities to ensure high‑quality, consistent electrical design deliverables. This position is ideal for a PhD student with strong skills in electrical/mechanical CAD automation, programming/scripting, expert systems, artificial intelligence, and model‑based engineering.  

 

What you’ll be responsible for in this role:  

 

  • Develop automation algorithms, tools and scripts within SolidWorks Electrical to generate wiring diagrams, schematics, 3D models, and BOMs. 

  • Build and refine automated workflows, templates, and libraries to improve design consistency and reduce manual engineering effort. 

  • Create validation tools to compare BOMs, schematics, and 3D assemblies for accuracy against automated electrical assemblies. 

  • Collaborate with Electrical Engineering, Product Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to identify automation opportunities and eliminate design errors. 

  • Support data structure improvements and modelbased design practices to enhance overall electrical design throughput. 

  • Troubleshoot automation workflows and contribute to continuous improvement of SolidWorks Electrical integration. 

  • Engage with Engineers on the key deployment strategy to get our products into the field. 

 

What are the basic qualifications?  

 

  • MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering. 

 

What are the preferred qualifications? 

 

  • Ph.D. or Ph.D. candidate

  • Must have great communication skills and be able to translate complex systems into easy to understand and follow steps. 

  • Strong background in electrical engineering and artificial intelligence. 

  • SolidWorks Electrical programming experience a plus.
