The Director of Intramural Activities will oversee the planning, development, and execution of a dynamic and inclusive intramural program that enriches the student experience. This individual will foster a sense of community, promote physical well-being, and provide diverse opportunities for recreation and competition in alignment with the mission of the University of the Cumberlands.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive intramural sports and recreational program that meets the needs and interests of a diverse student body.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the university, students, faculty, and external organizations to promote and expand intramural programs.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate student staff and officials for all intramural activities.
• Oversee fiscal planning and management for intramural programs, including budgeting, purchasing, and financial oversight to ensure cost-effectiveness and sustainability.
• Collaborate with university departments, such as student services, athletics, and academic programs, to enhance student engagement through intramural activities.
• Develop schedules, facilities use plans, and logistics for intramural sports, tournaments, and special events.
• Establish and enforce policies, rules, and safety standards for intramural programs and events to ensure a positive and safe environment for all participants.
• Maintain records and analyze participation data to evaluate program effectiveness and guide future programming decisions.
• Create marketing strategies and materials to promote intramural programs through campus media, social media platforms, and other outreach efforts.
• Serve as an advocate for student well-being by incorporating inclusive and accessible opportunities for recreation and healthy competition.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Master’s degree in Recreation Management, Sports Administration, Physical Education, or a related field is preferred.

Experience

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in intramural or recreational program management is preferred.
• Proven experience in staff supervision, program development, and fiscal management.

Special Requirements

• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering inclusivity and accessibility in recreational programs.
• Knowledge of industry standards, trends, and best practices in intramural and recreational programming.
• CPR, First Aid, and other relevant certifications (preferred or required).
