Job Description

The Senior Staff Software Engineer  – AI Platform Security, Crypto Core will lead the architecture, cross-team-development, and delivery of various security development features including AI Agent Security & Workflow Security for various agentic models, LLM & context security, cryptographic services foundational to the security of our platform and applications, Identity with IAM, IAG with unique proposition that this Tech leader is expected to drive and deliver in workload, machine & service identity needs for ServiceNow AI Security Platform. The role also focuses on technical leadership on access controls that need to be architected and delivered uniquely with a combination of machine + human identity (and other innovative ingredients not mentioned here). The role also owns secure key management, certificate infrastructure, enterprise-wide encryption capabilities, credential and secrets management, and the client libraries and Kubernetes services that make it all secure, observable, and reliable.

This technical, hands-on architect and subject matter leader will partner cross-functionally with product, infrastructure, and information security teams to deliver secure-by-design services that are scalable, auditable, and built to meet the demands of a modern enterprise and develop products in security that cover all ingredients above. The role is based in US (primary region - Santa Clara, CA) and will coordinate cross-geo team to deliver while being a technical liaison across multiple stakeholder groups to make security fundamental & horizontal deliverable.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you have:

  • Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry.
  • Deep knowledge of cryptography, PKI, key/secrets management, and distributed systems.
  • Proven success managing and scaling backend platform teams and services.
  • Experience with HSM technologies like Thales CipherTrustManager and PKI infrastructure like EJBCA
  • 10+ years of experience with technologies relevant to SN and advanced coding skills with high-quality results.
  • Experience managing employees who require little oversight in completing assigned work
  • Experience providing direction, delegate assignments, and support to accomplish tasks with their team
  • Experience with open source tools and agile development environments
  • Fluency in one or more relevant programming language (Java, C++, Ruby. Shell, JavaScript)
  • Ability to understand broad concepts and use those concepts to understand and develop solutions for problems
  • Experience completing projects based on company priorities, context, risks and desired outcomes
  • Ability to understand and implement best practices and coding standards about role specific requirements (e.g. programming languages and tools, network design, functional design, algorithms, patterns, design and development, etc.)

Preferred: 

  • Experience with Kubernetes, cloud-native stacks, and service mesh architecture.
  • Familiarity with Load Balancers, FIPS-compliant systems, and regulatory audit processes.
  • Experience building crypto gateways, proxies, or middleware layers for API security.

For positions in this location, we offer a base pay of $187,600 - $328,300, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. S
