About the role

About Dimagi

Dimagi is an award-winning social enterprise and a certified B Corp and Benefit Corporation. Our primary product, CommCare, is the most widely-deployed open-source digital platform for enabling Frontline Workers. Since 2002, Governments and organizations across all sectors have built customized mobile, web, and SMS applications on CommCare to deliver services to underserved populations. Dimagi is more than a tech company. We are an impact-first team of compassionate people from all parts of the world and all walks of life, dedicated to using business as a force for good in global health and development.

About the Division

The Global Strategy and Operations (GSO) Division's mission is to build high impact, mission-aligned, strategic partnerships across Dimagi’s products & offerings while maintaining highly efficient business, people, and regional operations across Dimagi’s divisions.

About the Position

Dimagi recently received generous funding to develop a new product called CommCare Connect. The original vision of CommCare Connect was conceived from Dimagi’s five-year strategy to amplify our impact across three areas: improve users’ jobs to improve outcomes, while also expanding our impact through exponential growth and exceeding market expectations. Dimagi is currently in the process of assembling a lean team that will be driving the product life cycle of CommCare Connect while scaling it to create impact.

CommCare Connect aims to provide opportunities for Frontline Workers to learn, deliver, verify and be paid for high-impact interventions. In our long-term vision, individual workers will create free accounts on CommCare Connect and gain access to opportunities to deliver high-impact interventions, such as participating in vaccine campaigns, leading parenting interventions for Early Childhood Development, delivering community initiated Kangaroo Mother Care or disseminating important information to households about family planning.

The CommCare Connect Team is currently seeking a Director of Frontline Programs to drive forward the vision for building and delivering technology services directly to Frontline Workers, with a particular emphasis on digital learning. You will have the opportunity to rapidly leverage a range of skills across concept formulation, research, strategy, experiment design, partner building, etc - all while making a real, positive impact in bringing Dimagi’s five-year strategy to make impact to life.

Because of its highly strategic nature, the CommCare Connect team will be based out of Dimagi’s Global Strategy Division and work closely with Dimagi’s C-Suite - including its Chief Executive Officer and Chief Strategy Officer, whom the role will report to.

Responsibilities

Due to the highly exploratory and innovative nature of this work, we are seeking candidates who thrive in flexible and unstructured environments, and can embrace changes in responsibility that benefit the team. This is especially true in the first year of this work. As we learn more about this work and our team grows, candidates should expect changes in responsibilities.

Strategy & Vision

  • As a member of the CommCare Connect Leadership Team, drive the vision and roadmap of CommCare Connect’s approach and strategy in engaging Community Health Workers directly, including by developing and sharing strategy documents, team presentations, external engagements, etc.
  • Own CommCare Connect’s digital learning approach, with an aim to enable the users (primarily Community Health Workers) to gain access to high-impact, well-paid service delivery programs which they can undertake in addition to their current responsibilities.
  • Effectively resource project work to delivery team members, and be willing to potentially manage a small team down the line.

Program and Research

  • Define research questions to test different hypotheses of CommCare Connect, such as investigating Frontline Workers capacity for digitally learning complex interventions such as Kangaroo Mother Care and Early Childhood Development initiatives.
  • Drive the execution of research questions through a mix of delegation to other teams at Dimagi, direct field research, and desk-based research using appropriate qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Evaluate different interventions as candidates for CommCare Connect programs, and prioritize among them. Backstop a dispersed te
