About the role
Description
- Maintains and actively promotes effective communication with internal and external customers.
- Responsible for maintaining a positive image of Commonheart in the community, keeping in alignment with our mission, vision, and values.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with physicians, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and other key referral sources.
- Educate referral sources about the benefits and services provided by home health, hospice, home care and palliative care programs.
- Utilizes professional selling skills/techniques to development business partnerships and/or leads.
- Identify potential joint venture or acquisition targets and complete appropriate research on the prospective agency’s business.
- Assist President with financial analysis and negotiation of contract terms on identified joint venture or acquisition targets.
- Represent Commonheart at community events, conferences, educational presentations, and industry functions to build brand recognition (travel required).
- Obtain and maintain expertise within senior care services/products with a focus on Home Health, Hospice, Home Care and Palliative Care, and remain up to date on industry trends for new business.
- Create, implement, and maintain a business development system to track and guide business development activities. Use data from the system to guide strategic decisions and growth efforts.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and demographic data to identify new opportunities for expansion.
- Collaborate with clinical and operational teams to ensure alignment of services with client and market needs.
- Interface with, coordinate with, and, as needed, assist the marketing and business development staff of Illuminus.
- Lead and mentor a team of business development professionals, providing guidance and performance oversight.
- Design and implement training initiatives tailored to staff needs and organizational objectives.
- Collaborate on the development of marketing materials, campaigns, and strategies to increase awareness of services.
- Performs other similar duties, as needed.
Requirements
- Ability to relate well to team members, residents/ families, staff, churches, health care providers, and other business relationships in the community in general.

- Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions and exhibit flexibility when needed.
- Must be self-starter, attentive to detail and possess excellent organizational skills.
- Must be accurate, patient, socially poised, mature, and willing to do what is required to complete tasks.
- Proven success in meeting or exceeding growth targets in a competitive healthcare environment.
- Must be able to work with little supervision.
- Positive attitude and approach to change and improvements.
- Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), related Social Media platforms, using CRM platforms to drive activities, and data analysis software.
Experience and Training
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Healthcare Management or related field.
- Minimum of 7-9 years of experience in business development, sales, or marketing, with at least 3 years in the home health and/or hospice industry preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience.
