About the role

The Automation Technician is responsible for ensuring wells on assigned leases are functioning optimally. This includes gas and liquid meter calibrations of well site locations and produced water disposals, as well as performing basic / routine maintenance on various equipment around the well site utilizing company-supplied hand tools / equipment.

DUTIES & JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and maintain calibration schedule and verification spread sheet.
  • Basic trouble shooting of hardware and software for RTU’s transmitters and SCADA communications.
  • Perform basic / routine maintenance on equipment / Transmitters, control valves, gas lift and plunger lift controls.
  • Assist pumpers in accurately reporting production of each well on the production system and add comments pertaining to loss or gain of production.
  • Schedule and witness third-party gas meter calibrations and analysis, as well as oil / water analysis.
  • Keep location and tanks clean of oil stains, spills, trash, etc. Ensure gates are locked, correct signs are posted, fences are in good condition, etc.
  • Maintain positive relations with land owners, government agencies, and other members of the community; escalate known issues / concerns as soon as possible.
  • Actively contribute to Aethon’s model. Some examples include making suggestions to maximize lease route efficiency and well performance, suggesting ways to save money on daily operations, attending Safety Meetings and offering ideas to help maintain a safe workplace, etc.
  • Be familiar with, and adhere to, all policies and practices noted in the Employee Handbook and the HSE Guidelines.

Requirements

Education & Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience in onshore measurement and automation
  • Experience maintaining and repairing electronic instrumentation and automation equipment

Technical Skills & Knowledge:

  • Competent understanding of Fisher ROC software.
  • Advanced knowledge of measurement devices and field measurement software.
  • Basic understanding of DC theory and computer skills.
  • Knowledge of On Shore orders 3-5 and API Chapter 21.
  • Proficiency in MS Office is required

Personal & Soft Skills:

  • Ability to complete complex tasks with limited supervision
  • Ability to communicate with a multi-disciplined team to successfully solve problem
