The Director of Data Operations is a critical role in the overall success of the Ark.ai decision science platform. The platform and the underlying data quality are essential for delivering our customers the timely and accurate information they need to make decisions that impact our national security. Your job is to ensure we exceed our customers’ expectations. The role is equal parts process, people management, and technical acumen. You understand data in depth, and you are passionate about the customer experience resulting from delivering high-quality data.
This is a full-time team member position, working in our Pittsburgh, PA office.

This is a full-time team member position, working in our Pittsburgh, PA office.
Scope of Responsibilities
- Manage a team of data stewards, content analysts, and quality control testers to ensure daily data pipelines are operating at peak performance and quality.
- Work with cross-functional teams to implement new technologies and processes required to establish, improve and maintain data quality best practices.
- Partner with data engineering to test, validate and productionalize new pipelines; run similar processes for updates and maintenance.
- Develop KPIs, reporting systems, and methodologies for monitoring data pipelines, data quality, and data infrastructure.
- Establish a cadence for reporting to all levels of the organization.
- Take full ownership and accountability of the data quality in the production platform.
- Document all processes and systems in detail; create repeatable processes that can be deployed at scale.
- Train, enhance, and retrain the teams to continuously improve the overall customer experience with our data platform.
Qualifications

- Candidate must be a US citizen.
- 7+ years working in a technical role in a data and analytics business; 3+ years as a people manager.
- Experience building end-to-end quality control frameworks, with a specific focus on data quality.
- Solid SQL skills; ability to work with all common file types (JSON, XML, etc.) and database systems (Postgres/relational databases, key-value stores, etc.).
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
- Programming experience in an object-oriented language.
- Experience in a startup or other entrepreneurial environment.
- MBA or advanced degree in a technical field.
