Project scheduling and controlling for capital projects

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop the project schedule, including the detailed activity list and resource needs, plus evaluation of the critical path.

  • Evaluate the progress versus the plan for the various engineering and construction disciplines involved in project execution.

  • Prepare and evaluate resource plans throughout the course of project execution.

  • Forecast, control, and report project costs, including budget versus actuals for the engineering and execution phases, to provide actionable information to the project team.

  • Lead efforts to identify options and initiate countermeasures in the event that projects are delayed or over budget.

  • Analyze and evaluate project risks in collaboration with the project team and stakeholders.

  • Participate in preparation and validation of project cost estimates.

  • Serve as the interface between the project team, procurement, and accounting functions to ensure accurate forecasting and posting of project costs.

  • Support continuous improvement of project controlling, scheduling, and cost estimation processes and methods.

REQUIREMENTS

  • B.S. in engineering, construction management, accounting, or a related field

  • 3-5 years of experience in capital project execution and demonstrated understanding of project management principles

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience working in multidisciplinary teams preferred

  • Experienced in schedule development and progress tracking, including the Critical Path Method and Earned Value Management

  • Proficient in ERP software (SAP preferred), scheduling software (MS Project or Primavera P6 preferred), and MS Office

  • Experience with project risk and change management preferred

  • Up to 50% travel may be required, depending on project assignments
