As a Consultant, you'll provide technical leadership and management for a commercial line of business or product. We'll count on you to develop, recommend, publish and uphold the underwriting guidelines and standards for the company. In addition, you'll ensure coordination between corporate office and field operations and have leadership responsibilities for specified regional operations, including financial analysis.
This opening is within the Small Commercial National Technical Underwriting unit. It can be filled in a remote/work-from-home (WFH) capacity or in one of our offices.
Anticipated key responsibilities expected of this role, in addition to the overall scope described in the corporate job profile:
- Project management: effectively plans, organizes, and oversees projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery, resource alignment, and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Ownership of strategic TUO initiatives, driving projects from planning through execution to support business goals in partnership with Technical Directors.
- Acting as a key decision-maker and representative for the TUO and Small Commercial Lines in the development and refinement of end-to-end processes and procedures across the value chain.
- Provides expert underwriting consultation and referral support, offering strategic guidance for complex or nuanced cases. Ensuring sound risk decisions in alignment with business strategy for profitable growth.
- Drives underwriter development by sharing expertise and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in underwriting practices through upskilling.
- Underwriting Guidelines and Regulatory Alignment: partners with Sr. Consultant to review and refine underwriting guidelines to ensure consistency with internal policies and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
Candidates should possess the below core skills:
- Technical Commercial Underwriting expertise: Demonstrates deep knowledge of commercial underwriting principles and practices necessary to perform role-specific responsibilities effectively.
- PolicyCenter: Well-versed in PolicyCenter.
- Regulatory/Guidelines: Experience in regulatory requirements in Commercial Underwriting and creation of Underwriting guidelines.
- Project Management: Possesses the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage tasks effectively to support the successful execution of projects and initiatives
- Innovation/Problem Solver: Applies creative thinking and embraces emerging technologies to develop effective solutions that enhance processes, improve efficiency, and deliver measurable business value.
- Strategic Foresight: Anticipates industry trends and evolving customer needs to inform long-term planning, identify growth opportunities, and shape future-focused strategies.
- Communication: Clearly articulates information and adapts messaging to diverse audiences to ensure mutual understanding and effective collaboration.
- Professionalism: Consistently demonstrates integrity, accountability, and a high standard of conduct in all interactions, fostering trust and credibility across teams and stakeholders.
- Data proficiency: Leverages tools such as Power BI and PowerApps to analyze data, automate workflows, and deliver actionable insights that support decision-making.
