Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

CNBC is looking to hire an experienced leader to run, CNBC Select, a commerce brand devoted to providing rigorous reviews and advice on personal finance products.

This leader will be responsible for upholding the editorial standards of the brand, leading social media efforts, guiding business strategy and managing the brand P&L. The managing editor will also oversee compliance and partnership teams.

Strong professional experience in the following areas are a must: creating and implementing strategy based on analytics, developing partnership opportunities, editing with a focus on service journalism. So are a strong knowledge of personal finance products, SEO, and social media, as well as deep management experience.


Job Description 

  • Lead the Partnerships, Compliance and Editorial teams.
  • Guide editors in translating relevant data, research and expert guidance into clear, concise and compelling content 
  • Use analytics and data to develop actionable strategies and tactics
  • Create and oversee edit calendars 
  • Work with editors to sharpen focus, headlines, angles, SEO and product choice across site and on supporting platforms
  • Ensure the accuracy and standards of journalism across the site and our coverage
  • Make branding decisions 
  • Work regularly with compliance and with legal and standards
  • Work regularly with product and design teams
  • Lead editorial meetings and analytics and strategy meetings
  • Provide quality control in all areas
  • Manage a team of journalists and social media producers and editors
  • Advocate for the brand with other stakeholders inside and outside the company
  • Manage budgets

By joining at this pivotal time, you'll be a part of this exciting company as it takes shape. Salary Range:  $165,000 - $205,000 - Bonus Eligible
