MISSION / SUMMARY: Position is critical to the management of all data base reporting through the Crystal Reporting system to Optivision, and SAP to provide information for customers, machine scheduling, and machine production as it relates to finishing and shipping inventory, shipping data, and work crews. Responsible for management of the Traffic department which includes all rail traffic in the mill as well as rail track maintenance. Use of web-based Access data base system to manage Traffic department, 3rd party switching company, and all rail traffic within the mill.  Also responsible for onsite trailer spotting vendor.

 

JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Review each order scheduled to produce on all paper machines and approve all supplies.
  • Communicate any shipping problems to customer service; coordinate any schedule changes; coordinate movement of materials to off-site warehousing; and process overage/shortage notices from customers and warehouses, and correct deliveries.
  • Assist with management of exterior warehouses used by the mill, to include inventory adjustments, provide dunnage supplies, proper handling of our roll stock and other assistance as needed.
  • Maintain inventory of all equipment, dunnage, and supplies; purchase all cores for paper machines.
  • Manage all reporting for the Finishing and Shipping department via the Crystal Reporting system.
  • Create, implement, and monitor local KPI’s for department. 
  • Use six sigma and lean processes to implement process improvement projects to optimize equipment and reduce downtime.
  • Develop enhanced methods for new capital investments, cost reduction and restoration of equipment.
  • Liaison with other department managers to optimize mill production and alignment of maintenance management system with all improvement initiatives.
  • Sponsor employee ownership with supervisors and operators to assure continuity in reaching common production goals.
  • Coach Supervisors and help their growth in all areas of management. 
  • Foster employee engagement initiatives.
  • Encourage a behavior-based crew lead safety process.
  • Ensure the training program for operators and supervisor is current and appropriate training goals are on target.
  • Promote ISO standards throughout department.
  • Administer and implement Labor relations (CBA) through consultation with the Human Resource and Mill Managers.
  • Provide leadership with the implementation of problem-solving strategies and execution of key performance objectives in finishing and shipping areas.

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • 7+ years experience in warehousing/shipping management.
  • Paper industry experience preferred
  • Solid understanding of mill process from order entry through delivery to customer, including all warehousing functions
     

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelors degree in related field

 

Pay Range:   $86,250.00 - $115,000.00
