The Payment Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the ACH, EDI and Wire Office Back-Office Operations. Responsible for managing multiple functions, providing leadership, team focus on day to day operations, driving and executing change. Overall responsible for the performance management and career development programs for the team. Makes staffing decisions, and ensures resources are available to accomplish priorities. Participates in developing division strategic plan and sets goals and priorities based on the direction set for the unit; follows through to ensure that objectives are met. Provides strong people leadership and guidance to staff, fostering an environment that encourages employee participation, teamwork, and communication.
Major Duties:
1. Ensure day-to-day operational level and, queries and requirements are handled timely and effectively.
2. Ensure sufficient coverage of all tasks, including training partners as necessary
3. Implement and ensure controls are executed by the team properly and consistently, perform self-testing and validation to prevent errors, losses and reputational damage.
4. Track, monitor and report on key performance indicators with comprehensive analysis.
5. Ensure staff are properly trained.
6. As a subject matter expert, provide consulting support to Relationship Managers, Treasury Management Consultants and similar roles in the organization in Payment Product Reviews, Client Onboarding and RFPs.
7. Assist with the development and successful implementation of systems, processes and projects changes for the Payment Services.
8. Conduct performance management and career development processes, provides input for staffing and disciplinary actions and provides hands-on training to staff
9. Develop periodic goals, organizes the work, sets short-term priorities, monitors all activities, and ensures timely and accurate completion of the work.
10. Execute strategic direction of business function activities.
11. Display a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity.
Knowledge:
Expert knowledge of Swift, Wires and NACHA formats
Highly prefer Accredited ACH Professional (AAP)
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
Working knowledge of Money Movement System, Pep+, Connexion is preferred.
Experience:
10+ years of Payment Operations experience
A College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience is required
Transformational leadership, strong planning and execution
Highly flexible and adaptable to change
Salary Range:
$85,900 - 145,900 USDSalary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
