In this position, you will be part of the Powertrain Engineering department as an Aftertreatment Hardware engineer. Working alongside an aftertreatment expert team, the essential function of this position is to engineer the ATS main box to integrate and work with our aftertreatment hardware, meeting current and future emissions requirements while providing high reliability. This responsibility may include direct involvement or support of testing, simulation, analysis of data, interactions with suppliers, truck side colleagues and a variety of other teams within the Daimler Truck organization.

Position offers a starting salary range of $90,000- $115,000

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience

What You Drive at DTNA

  • Develop, validate, and release aftertreatment components and systems for Daimler Truck specific powertrains.
  • Use the Daimler Trucks development process to coordinate 3D model creation, prototyping, and validation of complex mechanical systems.  Execute the DVP of a complex mechanical system from the early prototype stage to the production release.
  • Support sustaining activities including change management on ATS components. This includes root cause analysis of field failures and resolution of issues related to ATS components and the utilization of structured problem solving methods to identify root cause and develop corrective action within a timely manner.
  • Support interactions and meetings with suppliers and make sure they are working to meet our development and product requirements and timelines.
  • Regularly communicate work status to management, identifying project issues, delays and risks
  • Ability to effectively communicate with Daimler counterparts and align development and validation activities globally.
  • Maintain professional interaction in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Use oral and written communication skills to relay information to customers, staff, and management.
  • Basic Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Experience in automotive/heavy duty truck industry or related experience.

Knowledge You Should Bring

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 - 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work on cross-functional international teams to implement powertrain requirements.
  • Must be well-organized, able to handle multiple, detailed tasks, and work professionally with various levels of DTNA management.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and, oral and written communication skills. Excellent self-management and leadership skills required.
  • Moderate travel (< 10%), both domestically and internationally.

  • Ability to work in an environment of ambiguity and ongoing change. Proven ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of relevant experience within the industry
  • Welding Knowledge
  • Languages: English (fluent); German (Intermediate) preferred; additional language(s) appreciated
