Description
The University of Iowa Health Care's Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking to hire a 60% Patient Care Technician at the Medical Center North Liberty. Under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses, the ED Patient Care Technician will perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care.
Duties include (but not limited to):
- Perform EKGs throughout the Emergency Department as well as throughout the entire hospital.
- Set up rooms for patient admission.
- Clean equipment, patient bedside area and nursing unit.
- Transport patients by bed, cart or wheelchair.
- Stock and supply patient rooms and Nursing unit.
- Perform basic CPR as required.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Assist patients with bedpans, urinals and perineal cleansing.
- Perform patient personal hygiene such as bathing, toileting, feeding, dressing, grooming and oral care for patients.
- Turn, position, and ambulate patients.
- Take temperature, pulse and blood pressure.
- Enter daily patient record charting in computer.
- Transport equipment, specimens and supplies.
Percent of Time: 60%
Schedule: Rotating shifts (day, evening, and nights), will include a weekend rotation and holiday rotation as assigned
