We are growing our Consumer Insights organization! The Director of Consumer Insights is an embedded strategic partner, voice of the consumer, and thought leader to a portfolio of 5-7 brands. Partnering primarily with the Global Play and Commercial teams, you will deeply understand our audiences, trends, categories, brand health, and business performance to influence strategies, product innovation, and go-to-market plans. The Director will lead a team of 4-5 insights managers who plan and conduct research. This role also involves supervising a budget and contributing innovations to our Consumer Insights function capabilities and toolkit.

The ideal candidate is courageous about sharing consumer and marketplace truths while aspiring for continuous improvement in their team’s output and impact.

 

This is a hybrid role, which will be a combination of remote and onsite in our Pawtucket, RI office.

 

A day in the life as a Director of Consumer Insights:

  • Be the primary partner to your portfolio’s Global Play Leaders and their VPs/Directors, driving business partner action and accountability from data and insight.
  • Supervise the creation of annual business-specific learning agendas, working closely with partners to prioritize and deliver the most important work.
  • Lead and develop a team of 4-5 Managers and Associate Managers to be agile, curious, consultative problem-solvers who courageously inspire partner teams to make quality decisions.
  • Inform our long-range planning cycles by synthesizing relevant executive-facing consumer, play, entertainment, category, and brand trends.
  • Guide your team’s design, execution, and delivery of research studies, including consumer segmentation, brand tracking, product/package testing, and messaging/campaign testing.
  • Promote a culture of growth and performance, modeling standards for quality and actionability, identifying and addressing skill gaps as needed.
  • Act as a resource for innovation, surfacing new techniques and suppliers to improve our ecosystem of insights vendors, tools, and data sources.
  • Proactively find opportunities to integrate AIM Analytics team members and resources into Consumer Insights projects and outputs.

What You'll Bring:

  • 15+ years in consumer insights or market research, ideally with several years of experience in children’s products, entertainment, and/or gaming.
  • 4+ years as a people manager with experience recruiting and developing talent.
  • Strong background of building relationships and influencing business partner decisions at all levels.
  • Best-in-class ability to communicate complex ideas in an efficient and compelling way, with the gravitas to influence senior decision-makers.
  • Deep expertise in quantitative and qualitative insights methods, including emerging methods.
  • Strong problem diagnosis and definition skills.
  • Excellent prioritization and project oversight capabilities.
  • High-level analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 tools and navigating Power BI dashboards.
  • BA/BS or equivalent experience required, preferably in social sciences, marketing/market research, or a related subject area. MBA, other advanced degree, or additional relevant education a plus.
