As a Senior Manager/Manager in Software & Technology R&D within our Gi³ team, you’ll play a key client-facing advisory role, using your technical expertise to support Ireland’s most innovative companies. You will lead the assessment of complex software and technology projects to secure R&D tax credits and innovation incentives, while developing your leadership, commercial, and strategic skills in a collaborative environment.<p></p><p><b>Key skills and experience</b></p><ul><li><p>Extensive experience in software/technology roles (e.g. senior engineer, architect, technical lead, or manager).</p></li><li><p>Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field; postgraduate qualifications an advantage.</p></li><li><p>Broad knowledge of software design, development, and delivery (e.g. architecture, cloud, distributed systems, APIs, data platforms, digital technologies).</p></li><li><p>Proven leadership and consulting skills, including managing projects/teams and engaging senior stakeholders through structured technical interviews.</p></li><li><p>Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to convert complex technical concepts into clear documentation and presentations.</p></li><li><p>Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret legislation and apply it to real-world technical projects.</p></li><li><p>Experience managing multiple projects, delegating effectively, and overseeing budgets and timelines.</p></li><li><p>Experience mentoring and developing colleagues and fostering high performance.</p></li><li><p>Commercial awareness and interest in business development; experience with R&D tax credits/innovation incentives is beneficial but not essential.</p></li></ul><p></p><p></p><p><b>Success in the Role: Performance Outcomes in your first 6-12 months</b></p><ul><li><p>Manage a portfolio of software and technology clients and lead technical assessments for R&D tax credit and innovation incentive claims.</p></li><li><p>Conduct structured interviews with senior client stakeholders to identify qualifying R&D and articulate technological advances.</p></li><li><p>Prepare and review robust, compliant technical reports in collaboration with tax, costing, and finance teams.</p></li><li><p>Lead and develop a team of technology consultants through coaching and on-the-job training.</p></li><li><p>Support business development through proposals, pitches, client workshops, and innovation funding reviews.</p></li><li><p>Stay current on emerging technologies and trends and apply these insights in client work and thought leadership.</p></li></ul><p></p><p></p><p><b>What type of work will I be doing?</b></p><ul><li><p><b>Client engagement:</b> Lead technical interviews, manage key relationships, and advise on R&D eligibility.</p></li><li><p><b>Technical analysis & reporting:</b> Assess projects, draft technical narratives, and ensure they align with legislative criteria.</p></li><li><p><b>Team leadership & development:</b> Coach consultants, manage resources, and promote a collaborative team culture.</p></li><li><p><b>Business development & market presence:</b> Contribute to proposals, campaigns, and represent Deloitte at industry events.</p></li><li><p>Note: This is an advisory role focused on assessing and documenting technological innovation, not hands-on software development or system design.</p></li></ul><p></p><p></p><p><b>Who is the Hiring Manager?</b></p><p>The hiring manager is a seasoned leader within Deloitte’s Gi³ team, known for their deep technical expertise and collaborative leadership style.
