CYBERSECURITY ENGINEER

Located onsite at Rocket Lab Headquarters in Long Beach, CA, the Cybersecurity Engineer will enable Rocket Lab Engineers to develop the next generation of rockets and space systems, via the deployment and management of highly reliable and scalable cybersecurity technology and policies to protect our IP and infrastructure globally. This requires finding the balance between cybersecurity and allowing the business to run efficiently. WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:

  • Carry out general administration and security tasks with a focus on continuous improvement to provide a reliable and secure infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement standards to ensure:
    • Compliance with Rocket Lab Cybersecurity Policies
    • Compliance with NIST 800-171, CMMC, PSR, and other customer security standards
    • Simplified and consistent environment management practices
    • Clear and concise reporting on vulnerabilities, incidents, remediation efforts, support levels, etc
    • Comprehensive documentation of environments and support
    • Efficient cost control
  • Assist with project planning and deployment for Cybersecurity initiatives
  • Assist our fantastic team by learning and providing support for our different Cybersecurity systems and supporting infrastructure

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years of experience and bachelors degree or equivalent years of experience (6 total years of work experience)
  • 2+ years of experience in a platform focused technology role
  • Knowledge of Cybersecurity frameworks / technology, such as ISO 27001, NIST 800-171, endpoint security, network security, cybersecurity operations, etc.

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:

  • Experience supporting endpoint security operations and investigations
  • Vulnerability assessment and penetration testing
  • Firewall and Intrusion detection systems knowledge
  • Knowledge of encryption techniques to secure data transmissions
  • Experience with security incident response and forensic investigation
  • Promoting security awareness training amongst employees to prevent social engineering attacks
  • A keen interest in all things cybersecurity
  • General problem solving and analytical skills – able to see the big picture, make connections and appropriate decisions

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing
  • Must be physically able to commute to buildings
  • Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise

Level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
