Job Description

AECOM has a position available for a Civil Engineer VI to join our Transportation group in Piscataway, NJ.  In this role you will be part of a design team working on various highway and civil/site design projects throughout New Jersey.  This is a position that requires office presence a minimum or 2-3 days per week.

The responsibilities of this role include, but may not be limited to, the following:

• Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team.
• Coordinates and provides technical expertise for mid- large-size projects.
• Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet  requirements on large, complex projects.
• Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
• Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others.
• Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
• Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
• Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.
• Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
• Prepares technical specification sections.
• Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• BA/BS degree in Engineering plus 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. 
• Previous demonstrated experience as a Civil/Highway engineer with experience with NJDOT and NJ Turnpike Design procedures and submission requirements.
• Previous experience with plan development, specification preparation, and estimating is required.
• Demonstrated experience leading a highway design team, coordinating work from various disciplines, and working with the client.
• Experience using MicroStation/OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD / Civil 3D.
• Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• A degree in Civil Engineering is strongly preferred.
• NJ PE License is helpful.

Additional Information

• Demonstrated experience with MPT design, utility investigations, drainage and grading design, signing and striping, and Right of Way procedures is desired.
• Relocation is not available for this role.
• Sponsorship is not available for this position.
• This position requires office presence a minimum or 2-3 days per week.
