The Maintenance Buyer is responsible for ordering, tracking, and inventorying all maintenance materials/parts as required to keep production facilities operable.
Key responsibilities
• Monitors and maintains critical spare parts inventory to prevent production downtime. Quickly locate new parts.
• Provides timely responses to requests to obtain price quotations and prepare purchase orders for needed spare parts.
• Follows-up on capital project and plant improvement project spare parts lists and obtain parts needed to support operation.
• Tracks monthly parts and maintenance expenses within written budget.
• Obtains quotations properly to support engineering and operations.
• Accurately prepares purchase orders and receivers for purchased materials. Review and code invoices for proper accounting and payment.
• Manages multiple priorities and multiple projects.
• Meets all safety requirements, audits and procedures.
• Performs follow-up on back-ordered parts to ensure timely receipt
• Develops innovative ways to reduce local supplier costs and minimize emergency pickups.
• Orders and maintains VMI supply arrangements and assures accountability. Maintains the plants consumables such as compressed gasses, oil, lubricants, and other items.
• Assists MRO staff with the organization of MRO parts and the stock room. May fill in for MRO staff when required.
• Leads with expert understanding of Kerry Purchasing Systems, Invoicing Systems, Business System (SAP) and Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Assists others with these systems as a Kerry Superuser.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications and skills
- Associate or bachelor’s degree or 3 years of related experience preferred
- 5+ years of experience within a maintenance environment preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- 2-5 years of experience buying/purchasing, working & communicating with vendors, creating purchase orders for manufacturing or maintenance preferred.
Compensation Data
The typical hiring range for this role is $62,906 to $92,755 annually and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements).
